shan Ayurvedic Medical College and Research Center has a well-equipped Department of Rasa Shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana. Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana is the potentialbranch of Ayurveda which deals with processing and manufacturing of medicines. The Subject Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana i.e. Ayurveda Pharmaceutical Sciences concerned with 2nd professional of under graduate course. This department has a Rasa and Bhaishajya lab which where BAMS student can learn the basic processing of herbal and herbo-mineral medicine in accordance with the academic curriculum of B.A.M.S. course as per the University guidelines
of CCS University, Meerut.

Rasa Shastra mainly deals with processing of metal and Minerals in the form of Shodhana (Purification) and Marana (incineration) and Bhaishajya Kalpana preparation is based upon “Panchavidha Kashaya” concept. According to this concept there are five basic forms of formulation known as

i. ‘Swarasa’ the expressed juice,  
ii. Kalka’, a fine paste obtained by grinding fresh or wet grinding 
dried plant material  
iii. ‘Kwaatha’, the decoction,  
iv. ‘Sheeta’ or ‘Hima’, the cold water infusion and  
v. ‘Phanta’, the hot water infusion.  
 
Further from the above basic forms, a number of other  formulations are derived.  
 
Facilities in the department:
i. Well designed a Rasa and Bhaishajya lab with specimens, equipment (yantra), charts of various size.
ii. Different types of equipment’s, i.e. dryer, pulverizer, furnace and ovan etc. are available for practical study.
iii. Pharmacy with required equipments.
